| Knox Lodge # 807 was
instituted on January 15, 1942, with 52 Charter Members. Of those 52
Charter Members, 33 were enrolled at the time the Lodge was instituted.
The Lodge was originally called the Bass Lake Lodge. The first
Governor was Brother Paul Reed and the original Lodge meeting place was
Millers Grill at a cost of $7.00 a month.
The Lodge was renamed from Bass Lake # 807 to Knox # 807 in May,
1943. In 2000 the Lodge, with the blessing of Moose International,
became recognized as the Knox Moose Family Center # 807.
The present Lodge home was constructed in 1952. The interior was
extensively remodeled in 2004. The
Knox Lodge currently rosters approximately 400 Lodge Brothers and nearly
250 Women
of the Moose.
The Chapter of the Women of the Moose (Chapter # 633) was instituted
in 1943. The ladies of the Women of the Moose are a vital source of ideas,
energy, and financial support for various events.
The active Moose Legion Club attracts members to dinners and other programs.
Community service programs have been a hallmark of the Knox Moose
Family Center, as evidenced by numerous Community Service awards, The
most significant recent project has been the Starke County Hospice. This
Hospice was formed in 2002 and has had a very positive impact on the
community. Additional projects active in 2005 include raising funds for
and construction of a skate board park.
Knox Moose Family Center members enjoy lodge activities such as the
Friday Night Fish Fry, monthly Saturday night dinners, and Karaoke and
Dance contests.
We look forward to your visit to the Knox Moose Family Center # 807.
